The Christian Bubble
When I was 15, I joined a great church in my area where I met loads of amazing people I now still call my close friends. I was also fortunate enough to have some non-Christian amazing people at school who I also now still call my close friends. Do you see where I'm going with this? If I hadn't had that mix of people around me I wouldn't be the person I am now. Don't get me wrong, it's great to have people that you're sharing Jesus who don't know him already, and it's also hard not to conform to the different lifestyle that often your non-church friends are living. However, there was something special about having my school friends who were able to sustain me from being trapped in the Christian bubble, a phrase which we use to describe being surrounded by Church. I loved my church friends, and I loved my non-church friends, both gave me advice, both supported me, both loved me.
So, my challenge for you today is, are you not accepting people who don't know Jesus into your life because your afraid they will sway you away from God? For me, my non-church friends brought me even closer to God as I stood firm in my belief in Him even when I was surrounded by people who didn't know him. Plus, I did manage to get some special experiences with some of them asking questions and digging deeper into what I believed.
